LONDON (AP) — Fabio Paratici, Tottenham’s managing director of football, resigned Friday after losing his appeal against a 30-month ban for his part in a false accounting scandal involving former club Juventus.Paratici, who had been in the position at Tottenham since 2021, would have been expected to play a key role in identifying and hiring the successor to Antonio Conte, who was fired last month and hasn’t yet been replaced by a permanent manager.Paratici took a leave of absence ahead of the appeal hearing after his ban was extended worldwide by FIFA last month. He was one of the officials handed bans from soccer activities when Juventus was hit with a 15-point penalty following an investigation by Turin public prosecutors into alleged false bookkeeping.Juventus denied wrongdoing and also appealed to Italy’s highest sports court within the Italian Olympic Committee, known as CONI. On Thursday, a panel referred the case back to the Italian soccer federation’s appeals court an...U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab says he will resign following an investigation into bullying complaints

Burglars used a car to crash into a building along the 1300 block of Southwest First Court, just off West Atlantic Boulevard. The incident happened on Friday, just before 3 a.m., and the manager of the business said the vehicle rammed into the property in an attempt to steal guns. The manager of the Declaration Defense gun range said a driver tried to smash their way into the gated section of the business to create an opening to steal the supplies inside. According to the manager, when the burglar crashed into the building, the vehicle became stuck, which led the criminals to flee on foot empty-handed.The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and has since contacted crews to tow away the damaged car. Deputies searched the car wreck and building for clues.Video footage displayed the damage that showed a gate far from its original placement and rubble from the crash on the floor of the gun range.Investigations are currently underway to determine the people involved in t...City leaders offering gas at Ronselli Park for Sweetwater residents
Published Fri, 22 Nov 2024 06:40:14 GMT
In a welcomed relief for drivers across South Florida, the ongoing gas shortage crisis appeared to be gradually easing up. According to recent reports, more drivers are finally finding fuel, and lines at gas stations are starting to become shorter, with more gas available for purchase. While there are still a significant number of gas stations without fuel, the news is not all bad. In Sweetwater, Mayor Orlando Lopez and City Commissioner Ian Vallecillo have teamed up with E-Z Fill Gas to bring a fuel truck to Ronselli Park, located at 250 S.W. 114th Ave.Residents can breathe a sigh of relief as the gas tanker will be available at the park at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, providing much-needed gasoline to those who need it the most. The flooding interrupted the supply chain out of Port Everglades, making it difficult for tanker trucks to refuel gas stations. The situation was exacerbated by panic buying, which caused some gas stations to run out of fuel completely. With most terminals at Port E...Dominic Raab latest in long line of sackings and storm-outs under Britain’s Tories

LONDON — Sackings and dramatic resignations used to be relatively rare in British politics. Not any more.Dominic Raab’s resignation as deputy prime minister and justice secretary amid a bullying investigation marks the third dramatic Cabinet departure from Rishi Sunak’s government — even though Sunak has been prime minister for under six months. These events were once a rarity. Analysis by the Institute for Government think tank shows that ministerial resignations outside reshuffles have become far more common as the Conservatives’ current 13-year-stretch in government has carried on, when compared to the decades under Tory and Labour governments between 1979 and 2010.Including the four Conservative prime ministers forced out since 2010, a total of 39 Cabinet ministers have — outside of a reshuffle — either been sacked, quit with a pop at the government, or resigned in disgrace. Here’s POLITICO’s reminder of each and every last one of them. The coalition...Latest news
