SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks center Nico Sturm remains out indefinitely but is slowly starting to make progress from an injury he suffered to his hand/wrist area earlier this month.Sturm, who hasn’t played since Dec. 12 when he was injured in the third period of San Jose’s game with the Winnipeg Jets, is at least now able to tie his skates and grip his stick as he continues to keep up his conditioning with some on-ice drills after the Sharks finish practice.Sturm said he had a procedure done on the inside of his hand last Friday to correct a problem that he’s had for about a year.Sturm, one of the NHL’s faceoff leaders, credited Sharks head athletic trainer Ray Tufts for getting him ready to play in the past whenever he’s had issues with his hand. But with his latest injury, Sturm felt something needed to be done to fix the problem for the long-term.“They do such a good job, but it was just at the point where there was so much inflammation in there,” Sturm told this news organization ...Person injured in Daly City shooting remains in critical condition, police say

(KRON) -- A man who owns a San Jose-based management company was sentenced Wednesday to serve six months in jail for embezzling money from over a dozen hotels.Henry Flynn, 57, owner and CEO of Kubo, provided management services to small hotels in Lake Tahoe and the San Francisco Bay Area. Flynn was previously convicted in 2008 of grand theft for embezzling from his then-employer, Vasona Management. As CEO of Kubo, he was accused of pocketing tens of thousands in fraudulently-obtained insurance funds, Santa Clara County prosecutors said.Flynn employed personnel to manage the hotels and obtained workers’ compensation insurance for those employees. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills are well aware they are on the outside looking in when it comes to a playoff spot. With three games remaining, Allen knows the only thing the Bills can do is handle their own business. That starts when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night.“We’ve got to control what we can control,” Allen said. “It’s essentially win or go home. So again, we got to be prepared for every punch that the Chargers can throw at us and be able to respond and adjust accordingly in game.”Buffalo has overcome a midseason swoon, criticism of coach Sean McDermott and a rash of defensive injuries to win three of four. That stretch included a 31-10 rout of Dallas last Sunday. The Bills are one of four teams at 8-6, but Cincinnati and Indianapolis go into the weekend holding the final two wild-card spots. The Bengals beat Buffalo on Nov. 5 while the Colts and Houston Texans have better conference records.Buffalo, though, could receive early Christmas gifts. Cinc...Latest news
