Thirty-seven students in the Bay Area have received national gold medals through Scholastic’s Art and Writing Awards, the longest-running and most prestigious competition of its kind in the country, while another 43 students earned silver medals. (KRON) -- A fire has been reported Wednesday afternoon in the Nob Hill neighborhood, according to the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD). Crews responded to a building at 1625 Leavenworth St. One person was rescued and taken to a burn center, officials said. The unidentified individual was taken to the emergency room and suffered a "critical injury" As of 2:20 p.m., forward progress on the fire has stopped, and it is unknown how many people were displaced. The second and third floor of the building was damaged, according to SFFD.The fire first broke out at 1:38 p.m. and was contained one hour later, according to SFFD. It was originally reported to be a one-alarm fire but has since grown to two alarms. The public is asked to avoid the area as crews respond to the fire. (KRON) -- A Florida man was charged with sexually assaulting a woman who was walking through a pedestrian tunnel in a popular area of Palo Alto in the middle of the day.Daniel Widyanto Condronimpino, 34, knocked the victim down, strangled her, and sexually assaulted her as she tried to call out for help April 9, Santa Clara County prosecutors said. "The violent attack, just yards away from a busy commercial street, was interrupted by a passerby.
